Ensemble

PHOENIX BAROQUE AUSTRIA from Vienna, uses period instruments or historical copies from the Baroque age in order to revive the lively, warm, sometimes also rough sound of that period without ever being meaningless. The number of musicians ranges from two musicians playing chamber music to eleven virtuosos performing compositions by Claudio Monteverdi with his late polyphonic music and by Bach and Händel, composers in the Middle Baroque age. The single concerts have a carefully planned dramaturgy and help the audience to perceive the melancholy, the exuberance, the grief and of course also the love of that time.
Having thorough knowledge of this style of music, the musicians feel comfortable in improvisation and can therefore gain a unique style of interpretation. When music is given a personal touch, it can rise like a phoenix. In this way, sound, time, room and emotion come together to form a coherent, pleasant whole.
